Foods That Naturally Whiten Your Teeth Over The Festive Season

The food and drink we tend consume over the festive season such as wine, tea and coffee, berries and fizzy drinks can all lead to staining on our teeth, however, there are certain foods that can act as natural whiteners!

See our list of the 5 foods you should eat over Christmas that can help in keeping your teeth looking pearly white!

Broccoli

Not only can eating raw broccoli can help clean and polish your teeth, but due to its high fibre content,  it can also help reduce inflammation in your mouth (along with the rest of your body).

Pineapples

Pineapple is the only food that naturally contains bromelain—a compound with anti-inflammatory and cleansing properties. A recent study in the International Journal of Dental Hygiene found that bromelain is an effective ingredient in a stain-removing toothpaste.

Strawberries

Strawberries contain something called malic acid, which is a natural tooth whitener and actively removes stains. They also have the added benefit of ellagitannins and antioxidants that can help reduce stain-attracting bacteria and inflammation in your mouth.

Cheese

Studies show that eating cheese raises the pH level in the mouth and reduces the risk of tooth decay. It also contains calcium and protein, which is crucial for enamel strength – the part of the tooth responsible for keeping them white!

Apples

Like strawberries, apples also have a high concentration of malic acid, and the act of chewing an apple helps to scrub your teeth!
